We have belonged to the boating club for a few years and we spend all of our summers camping at the campground. Last night we attended the Christmas party for the first time and we had the best time. Food was wonderful (great job to all the cooks), nice prizes, and Johnny Trash was great!!!! We will for sure be back next year!

I would like to comment on the welcoming & friendly marina we found when a group of us from the Washburn Marina docked over Labor Day Weekend. Some of us had not been there since the construction project took place. We found everyone very willing to accommadate our needs and address our questions. We are still commenting about the fact that when rumor had it we had a cookout planned, someone brought over one of the brand new grills from the marina area for us to use on the transient docking side. What is truly amazing is how you got the fish to accommadate us so that our crew were able to catch 14 fish in one day! We plan to return again next season.

Saxon Harbor Boating Club: History and Purpose
The club was formed in 1974 with 36 members. It has been continuously active since that time. In 2006, the club boasted 203 members on its roster with hopes the membership will continue to grow along with the harbor expansion.

The club incorporated as a non-profit organization in the State of Wisconsin in 1978. The by-laws state that the membership is open to any interested person. Upon payment of dues a membership runs from January 1st to December 31st. The purpose of the club is to:

Promote safe boating;

Pursue the environmental protection of Lake Superior and its rivers and streams;

Attempt to keep members aware of changing regulations which pertain to fishing and boating;

Seek the improvement of Saxon Harbor and its facilities and assist where possible; and

Contribute to the betterment of the community, where possible.

The club has been instrumental in the recent expansion of the harbor. Club members were asked for input and took part in many of the meetings with Iron County officials, the Corps of Engineers, the engineering firm and contractoring companies who worked on the project. As the primary users of the harbor, we felt our past experiences and knowledge of the harbor could help shape the direction of the project so that new harbor users would feel this facility offers a good value for the services and amenities provided.
